Innovation Training
A key component of our work is to expand capacity and inspire a culture of innovation throughout City Hall. One of the ways we are doing this is through innovation training for our City employees, giving them new tools and strategies to make innovations in their day-to-day work.

Ideas Camp
Ideas Camp consists of five, three hour classes that help employees generate or develop ideas which address city challenges. During each session, participants examine a different part of the problem solving process. Then, in order to advance their idea, complete some “homework” before the next class. By the time Ideas Camp is complete, participants will be ready to launch their idea. The classes include:
Exploring the problem
Marinating in the data
Prototyping
Measuring success
Telling the story
Classes are held on the second Thursday of every month from 12 - 3. The next class runs from June 11 - November 14.

Innovation Academy
The Innovation Academy consists of two, full-day classes that train and coach employees at all levels of the organization to improve the way government works. The sessions blend elements of Lean and Six-Sigma with real government examples to showcase how employees can make meaningful change on their own without using new people, technology, or money. Some of the topics covered include:
Process mapping
Waste analysis
Value added analysis
Production boards
Mistake proofing
Once employees complete the Innovation Academy, they receive help and coaching to implement change within their department.
